The Morwell Innovation Centre brings together education, research, and industry to collaborate, innovate, and transform industries that will shape an exciting new future for the region and our communities.

The Morwell Innovation Centre was officially opened in 2021 with funding from the Victorian Government. A core objective is to nurture and expand the innovation and entrepreneurial landscape in Gippsland, enhancing the region’s overall prosperity. We are committed to providing necessary support, underpinned by Federation University, to deliver on this core objective.

The Centre serves as a meeting place, both physical and virtual, for fostering innovation and collaboration. We embrace new ideas and encourage partnerships across educational levels, technological domains, industry sectors, and business interests. Our diverse ecosystem includes private and commercial tenants, project teams and research groups, government representatives, and community members.

The Morwell Innovation Centre is managed and operated by Federation University, a regional university encompassing three main campuses in Victoria – Ballarat, Berwick, and Gippsland. The University serves as the sole higher education provider in the Gippsland region, with the primary campus at Churchill and a secondary location at the Morwell Innovation Centre.

The Centre forms part of Federation University’s Gippsland Tech Park, which also includes the Gippsland Enterprise Centre in Churchill. These facilities provide excellent opportunities for industry partners to work alongside Federation University for the benefit of their business and the broader region.
